Helen Gunn
Institute of Cancer Research, London, UK
Helen Gunn has worked at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) for 10 years and has been supporting Professor Paul Workman for the last 5 years. She provides full-time support throughout his work and helps to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Helen’s experience working with Paul have given her an invaluable understanding of his work, priorities and the many moving parts involved in keeping a busy research environment running effectively.
As Paul’s Executive Assistant, Helen takes care of a wide range of activities related to his work, helping to coordinate his commitments both in the UK and internationally, manage day-to-day arrangements and ensure that everything is organised and on track to meet deadlines. Her role extends beyond supporting Paul directly, however. Helen is also an important part of the Chemical Probes Portal team, where she helps coordinate and manage the practical and administrative aspects of the team’s work.
With so many different activities, people and deadlines to keep track of, Helen plays a key role in making sure that the team’s jobs run smoothly. Her organisational skills, knowledge, and ability to keep things moving make her an essential part of the team and a familiar and trusted face to colleagues and collaborators.
When she’s not keeping Paul and the Chemical Probes Portal team organised, Helen enjoys spending time in the Caribbean enjoying the topical sunshine, shimmering white sandy beaches, vivid turquoise warm waters and of course the cocktails.
