Sabin Llona-Minguez is a senior scientist and project leader at the Karolinska Institutet. He was educated as a pharmacist at the University of Barcelona and received his PhD degree in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde. During his research career at GlaxoSmithKline and academia, he has worked on a number of drug-discovery projects targeting nucleotide and folate metabolism, kinase pathways, the cholinergic system and lipid-signalling networks, among others. His current research interests include multi-targeted drug discovery, applications of chemical biology technologies and development of methodologies to access novel chemical scaffolds at the interphase between natural products and “drug-like” molecules.
