Lars Johansson is a senior scientist at the national infrastructure Chemical Biology Consortium Sweden (CBCS) at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. CBCS is a nonprofit organisation offering academic researchers a fully integrated platform and expertise for the development of chemical tool compounds for applications within life science research. He obtained his PhD in organic chemistry in 2000 at the University of Oslo in the group of Prof. Mats Tilset. After postdoctoral studies with Prof. Jan-Erling Bäckvall at Stockholm University, he was employed by Biovitrum (now Swedish Orphan Biovitrum) in 2002 as a medicinal chemist and chemistry team leader. In 2009, he co-founded CBCS, funded by a major grant from the Swedish Research Council and by a donation of the small-molecule research platform from Biovitrum. As senior scientist at CBCS, he has contributed to more than 25 collaborative projects with academic users of the platform (e.g., screening of small-molecule libraries, hit analysis, chemistry expertise and design/optimisation of bioactive compounds and chemical tools).
